Contact your commissioner about making a more bikable Butte

posted Jun 2, 2015, 12:37 PM by Cassie Wick

IMPORTANT: Please take a few minutes to contact your commissioner regarding 15-258 (support for authorizing the establishment of bike lanes, parking reconfigurations and street signal changes in Uptown Butte.) Your input is vital to seeing change in Uptown Butte.

After Walk and Roll members attended the council meeting last Wednesday, it was apparent that some commissioners are not on board with these changes. They are voting on this Wednesday 6/3, so the sooner the better!

Please email your commissioner (or call) today, tomorrow at the latest. You can use this template, or your own. Just please let your voice be heard. We had 150 signatures in support of these changes from the pub crawl!

RE: Council of Commissioners Communication 15-258
Dear Commissioner [Insert Commissioner’s Last Name],
I write today to express my personal support for authorizing the establishment of bike lanes, parking reconfigurations and street signal changes in Uptown Butte.
I have been a resident of [Neighborhood name] for [period of time you’ve lived at your address] and a resident of Butte for [number of months or years]. Throughout this time, I have seen many changes proposed and implemented in our community which have contributed to the quality of life I enjoy as a resident of Butte and Southwest Montana.
The benefit of choosing to live in a city is the opportunity to make choices and to take advantage of opportunities throughout the city at every turn. I believe the proposal to authorize bike lanes throughout Uptown Butte and provide additional parking while making our traffic signals more efficient will promote walking, biking, and commerce in our Uptown area. Furthermore, I am excited the proposal connects Uptown with Downtown, and promote better access to Butte’s fantastic urban trails, Uptown’s booming restaurant, brewery and distillery businesses, and continue to contribute to high quality of life for Butte residents and visitors.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
